Dream Dates: The Best Tasting Menus in the World
Hope you enjoyed our blog about our recent visit to The Court Restaurant in Abergavenny. Whilst here, we had a seven-course tasting meal. As travel dreamers, we got to fantasising about the places that we could eat at, that offer such tasting menus, if money was no object. Here is our top ten list.
SUBLIMOTION (IBIZA, SPAIN)
Located in the Hard Rock Hotel, this is probably the world’s most expensive tasting menu. The experience includes the ultimate in luxury, fantasy and technology. This is surely something you will never forget.
OSTERIA FRANCESCANA (MODENO, ITALY)
This elegant restaurant, filled with contemporary art, offers two tasting menus. One features an ever-changing, seasonal showpiece. The other celebrates the tastes of the region in which the restaurant and chef Massimo Bottura hail from.
CASCADES (UBUD, INDONESIA)
Perfectly located on the ridge overlooking the beautiful Valley of the Kings, the tropical atmosphere adds oodles of romance to the dishes that are as photogenic as the surroundings.
ULTRAVIOLET (SHANGAI, CHINA)
This experimental restaurant offers 20 courses! They are all accompanied by sounds and visuals to complement the dish being served. There has been an insane amount of thought that has gone into the experience here, making it a fully immersive evening.
ANGLO (LONDON, UK)
Despite the casual appearance of this Farringdon restaurant, the food is of the highest quality. The price is a steal for one of the most expensive cities in the world.
ELEVEN MADISON PARK (NEW YORK CITY, USA)
This upscale, but contemporary restaurant is located in a rather grand art-deco building. It has three Michelin stars amongst its many awards. The element of theatre involved makes it a stand-out option.
K’U’UK (MERIDA, MEXICO)
This place offers traditional Yucatan dishes mixed with the theatrics of modern-day fine dining.
QUAY (SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA)
Situated in the extraordinary setting of Sydney Harbour, unbelievable views of Sydney Opera House await. The food somehow manages to match the surroundings. We really want to try that famous snow egg dessert!
RESTAURANT GUY SAVOY MONNAIE DE PARIS (PARIS, FRANCE)
Based in the exceptional setting of the former French mint. This extravagant restaurant offers an 18-course ‘Innovations and Inspirations’ menu filled with dishes of great finesse that provides an unforgettable experience.
THE TEST KITCHEN (CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA)
This inventive restaurant in an ultra-contemporary setting starts with an hour in a ‘dark room’ before being directed into a ‘light room’. Here, you get a full view of the busy kitchen! Amazing, eh?
